  5. 2 medium size potatoes

  9. 2 inch peice of cinnamon stick
  10. 1 and a quarter tablespoons of coriander powder
  11. 1 tablespoon cumin powder
  12. Quarter of a teaspoon of turmeric powder

  14. Half teaspoon of red chilli powder
  15. Half teaspoon of madras curry powder
  16. 3-4 tablespoons vegatable oil
  17. 180 ml boiling water

Steps to make Home made Bengal Curry

  1. Chopped up onions, peppers and diced potatoes
  2. Heat the oil in a heavy passed pot on a medium heat, add chopped onions, cinnamon and 1 teaspoon of salt, stirring occasionally until the onions are translucent.
  3. After onions have been cooking for about 8 minutes add the garlic and ginger paste, cook for a further 5 minutes, stirring the pan occasionally, making sure the onions don't burn.
  4. Add your spices, coriander, cumin powder, curry powder, chilli powder, and turmeric powder, mix and stir well and cook on a very low heat for about 3 minutes.,stiring frequently to avoid burning.
  5. Add the chicken, making sure its thoroughly coated in onion mixture and spices,
  6. Add peppers diced pototatoes and canned tomatoes. Stir well.
  7. Boil 180ml of water and add to mixture, stir and mix well.
  8. Cover and cook on a low flame, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through, it usually tales about 15 - 20 minutes.
  9. Serve with Basmati rice or why not try cauliflower rice.
